Bengkulu Province is the second fastest growing economy in Sumatera supported by growing investment and exports and expectedly to be solid and stronger in 2023. Domestic demand contributed significantly to Bengkulu’s economy with share of imports and household consumption reached 59.07% and 56.42% respectively. As investment has become the engine of Bengkulu’s sustainable economic growth, Bengkulu had the 2nd highest investment ratio (39.83%) in the Sumatera region.
Bengkulu’s Economy was driven by solid leading sectors such as transportation and warehousing and growing new economic sectors.
With the maintained momentum of economic recovery, Bengkulu Provincial Government raised their regional revenue and expenditure realization significantly from Q2-2020 to Q2-2022. On the Q1 this year, Bengkulu Government achieves 2nd rank on the expenditure realization and 4th rank on the revenue realization among region in Indonesia. Until the Q2 of 2022, the percent realization of the revenue and expenditure were still on track.
Banking intermediation function support financial system to improve economy recovery. Demographically, the population tends to increase dominated by productive age and has the competitive Minimum Wage compared nationally. In addition, Bengkulu is one of eight provinces in Indonesia and the only province in Sumatera that has excess power.
